Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet.....

So we start our trek to the great northwest, by driving from home sweet home in Murray to Boise, to stay the night, then continue on our way. Well, those of you who know me, know I LOVE to plan trips, and always take my verification papers with me. So we get to Boise, and I realize I not only don't have the verification number, I don't remember the name of the hotel either, only that it was a Marriot property on the 'Eagle' exit. Long story short (too late, you say)we found the hotel, a nice place away from the freeway with a very comfy bed and yummy breakfast....phew.....
So....the next chilly morning, we set off for Bellevue. Someone forgot to tell the weather man, and we had snow. more snow. and did I mention snow? Drove past One rollover, one slideoff, an army of 18 wheelers pulled off to the side putting chains on their tires...amd piles and piles of snow. What a relief when we saw the sign for Bellevue! We pulled into the parking lot of our complex, spotted the Elders, who helped us unload the 'freight train' (what Larry calls the 'burb). We opened the door to our apartment, and the furniture fairy had been here and we had the cutest furniture all set up and ready to go. What a day!

Backtracking - a sport in its own right

Week two at the MTC found us learning Mission Office Software, Excel, and Microsoft Word, with mail merge. 4 days to learn. all. that. Surely, they can't be serious. (yes, they were serious, and don't call me Shirley) Fortunately for us, there were other Mission Office hopefuls just as stymied as we were. (see photo)

By Thursday afternoon, the MTC trainers had all they could take, and sent us packing, literally, to our missions.

We're FINALLY Here!

We started our first week in the office. The Missionaries we work with are awesome! The Elders(Elder Elder and Sister Elder) have been in the office 6 years. We love them. They know how to do everything! The Office Elders are Elder Hansen and Elder Staples. They are our trainers. They are so patient with us as we get up to speed on how things are done.
Unfortunately, the computer won't read my camera card, so I'll have to post pictures later. But a big shout out to all our friends and family! We love you!

That was the Week that Was!

Wow! what a week! I haven't read and studied that much since my brief college days.
We love the MTC group we are in. Elder Wilson is our District Leader, which basically means he gets to call on people to pray. We are having a great time, and loving the experience. We have met some really fun people, including Sister Beauchamp (pronounced bee-chum) from Texas. I love it when she says stuff like "them kids needed a good whuppin!" and Sister Brooks who is going on her second mission, this time to Australia, and is so sweet and kind. This is my kind of fun.

Love that Red Sand

We took a long weekend with the grandkids and their parents to St.George. There's nothing like the feeling of sand between your toes....even better when it's warm sand, but that's a story for another day. If you haven't tried the fried ice cream at pancho & leftys you should. If you're going to Pirate's landing, call ahead and watch out for the ditzy wait staff. oh, and be prepared to shell out at least $20 to buy tokens for the kids. (young and old)What is it about the red rock and red sand of St George that is sooo intoxicating? Even with the craaazy traffic, it was a sweet getaway.
